Performance spectrum of the neurosurgical department
of the Paracelsus Clinic Zwickau
The neurosurgical department of Paracelsus Kliniken Sachsen at the Zwickau site is one of Germany’s leading competence centers for neurosurgery. Annually, we treat about 2,200 patients and perform an average of 1,500 operations, of which about 300 are primary gliomas.
Under the direction of the long-standing head physician Prof. Dr. med. habil. Jan-Peter Warnke, the department’s team of physicians provides the highest level of neurosurgical care. Our innovative therapeutic procedures, a modern hybrid operating room and the team’s decades of professional experience mean a high level of safety for you as a patient. As one of four hospitals in Europe, the department offers the NanoTherm Therapy System for the treatment of glioblastomas. This innovative and still relatively new procedure treats solid glioblastomas with the help of magnetic nanoparticles and means new Hoffnung for affected patients. We offer all surgical procedures of general and special neurosurgery.
The microsurgical surgical technique is the basis of the surgical procedure. This technique has been expanded in recent years to include modern intraoperative and imaging techniques. These include 5-ALA fluorescence, ICG angiografie, and nanotherm ablation therapy. The goal of neurosurgical therapy is to remove the tumor as radically as possible, but to keep the surgical access route as small as possible and to spare the surrounding brain tissue.
